After waiting for a long time, Path of exile 2 finally has the confirmed news that it will be tested on both PC and Consoles (PS5, Xbox Series, PS) From December 6, 2024. This test is a paid test for the international version (Estimated to last half a year). Anyone who spent more than $480 in the POE account will be automatically quality for the trial. Also you can purchase a $30 sponsorship package to manually qualify. Players who want to experience it for free will have to wait untill the official releases in 2025.
What's New in POE 2?
New classes: There will be 12 classes in POE 2, and 6 classes will be released in the test. The class setting is similar to POE 1. The 6 classes are monk, warrior, ranger, mage, summoner and mercenary.
New storyline: The full version of POE 2 will contain 6 chapters of storyline, 3 will be open for this test. Similar to POE 1, Players need to complete the story line first before they can farm the endgame contents.
New skill gem system: The new skill gem system will replace the gem inlay and link mechanism in POE1, Players can obtain skill gems through npc, or drops from the maps. Once they are obtained, they can be selected in separate skill page, and can be combined, matched and upgraded by themselves.
New potion mechanism: All functional potion will no longer exist, there will be only 2 potions left in POE2, One for restore player's health, another one for Mana.
New Currency: Similar to poe1, poe2 currency system is still composed of orbs with various functions. Most of the poe2 currency currently announced are left over from POE1.
POE 2 Currency
From what we can know, most of the currencies in POE2 are inherited from POE1. Currency is very important in POE2, especially chaos orb, exalted orb and divine orb. Chaos orbs are more common and widely used, also it's the mainstream currency in the trading market. Exalted orb and divine orb are relatively rare and more valuable, can be used to purchase high tier equipment or crafting.
